As fan of Ghost in the Shell for years. I’m very much waiting to watch this movie online.
Love the indisputable magnificent talent of kenji kawaii and love the video concert of ghost in the shell. But I am as eager to see this version made movie as willing to enjoy Aoki’s remix.
Granted, this doesn’t make this casting right, wrong, or even racist, but just that when it came to Americans translating this franchise for the broader mainstream audience perspective of the U.S. they most likely felt they had to make certain changes and updates, etc. what have you, to make the property more approachable to the masses. And in this case, a popular action film heroine, considered by many to be so beautiful and well-liked in her movies and a box office draw, and being able to transform in her performances much like a good A-list actress is always supposed to be able to do, whether she’s considered A-list to you or not, I don’t know though, that’s not the point. But I believe that was how they arrived at this conclusion. Not out of racism or hatred, but just from a perspective of not realizing how definitively Japanese the fan base finds the character to be. They most likely believed it was a cyberpunk sci-fi franchise that was about a cybernetic female soldier with black/purple hair and an ability to use guns and fight with lots of crazy action, etc. and just emotionally translated the character rather than all encompassing in physicality and a full film creation of a Japanese female character.
I get all the plot chances and all. it’s not manga. Sometimes the story lines don’t exactly cross over. I gotta admit I can’t wait to see it I love Scarlett Johansson but this is one of those movies that you can get an absolute nobody and make them into a star
#5 A great release date: March 31, 2017
I’m very optimistic about the movie and am excited to see it, also I’m a fan of a lot of Steve Aokis work. I want to see this movie because I love the franchise.
Sounds pretty awesome remixes should always be welcomed even the version they are going to use for the new shelling sequence is a rework by the original composer.
Can’t wait to watch ghost in the shell. I hope they keep the villain the way he was in gitsac (its confirmed its the cyborg from the second season of gitsac im hoping they keep the background of him as a former friend (or more) of motoko)
